Los Yetras Margarita

Reposado tequila, fresh lime, triple sec, and agave muddled with jalapeño, under a Tajín rim. My house margarita, and the one I make most.

Two spicy margaritas with Tajín rims and jalapeño coins, on a balcony ledge

Method

  1. Rim a glass with Tajín and fill it with ice.

  2. Muddle the jalapeño coins with the agave syrup in the bottom of a shaker. The syrup carries the heat into the drink evenly.

  3. Add the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and ice, and shake.

  4. Strain into the glass and garnish with a couple of jalapeño coins.

Notes from the line

Taste a coin first. Jalapeños vary a lot, so use two if they are hot and four if they are mild.

Blanco tequila works too and makes a sharper drink. Reposado rounds it out.
